Please welcome Scotty Bickford to Beadhead. Scotty is a fixture in Portland’s music scene. He was most recently with the Shwing Daddies. He’s got the chops and the voice. We’re excited to have him as a part of Beadhead.
Jeff Gadette has joined Beadhead as our bass player. He’s a veteran of the local music scene as well as having played in Salt Lake, Los Angeles and North Carolina. He brings a lot of energy to the stage and finds the harmony slot on so many of Beadhead’s three part harmony songs. He’s shown here with John DiFalco on his first night with the band at Coyotes.
Bill Piland, Beadhead bassist, passed away October 19, 2012. He was an original member of the band and certainly laid the foundation for all of the material we did. Bill was adamant on achieving good vocal harmonies. Bill’s music roots go back to Portland’s “Sleazy Pieces”, a band that was inducted into Oregon’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In addition to being our “harmony coach”, Bill sang a few lead parts with Beadhead. In August we recorded a live performance and one of the songs Bill sang was “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”. The lyrics take on a whole different meaning when you know it was the last recording Bill made.
